Apparently being Alfred Hitchcock’s muse was not all its cracked up to be. Actress Tippi Hedren has accused the legendary director of sexual assault in her upcoming memoir, Tippi. According to Hedren, the alleged misconduct took place during the six months in which she worked with him on The Birds. Hitchcock, who died in 1980, would allegedly get “icy” and “petulant” when he saw other men talking with Hedren on set, and the fascination quickly devolved into obsession. According to the memoir, Hitchcock talked with Hedren about getting erections, and would ask her to touch him. In one instance, Hitchcock allegedly forced himself onto her and tried to kiss her in the back of his limo. She wrote that she didn’t tell anyone about the incidents because at the time, “sexual harassment and stalking were terms that didn’t exist.” The memoir is to be released Tuesday. Hedren is now 86 years old.
