Demi Lovato was reportedly rushed to the hospital Tuesday after a suspected drug overdose, Variety reports. “Demi is awake and with her family who want to express thanks to everyone for the love, prayers, and support,” Lovato's spokesperson said in a statement. “Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now.” Law enforcement officials responded to a medial emergency called at her Hollywood Hills home before noon on Tuesday, and was reportedly given Narcan–a medicine used in opioid emergencies–before being transported to a hospital. TMZ reports that someone close to Lovato denies the drug involved being heroin, and the singer reportedly “refused to tell paramedics what drug caused her to overdose.” Law enforcement sources told the outlet that there would be no criminal investigation because no drugs were seized from her home. Lovato's July 26th concert in Atlantic City Beach was cancelled in the aftermath of the incident. The former Disney star has had a long history of health struggles, being previously treated for bipolar disorder, bulimia, and substance abuse. Last month, she released the new track “Sober,” in which she grimly discusses relapsing after six years of sobriety.
