Don’t sleep too little, or too much: Scientists who analyzed 16 sleep studies found that people who sleep more than eight hours a night as well as those who sleep fewer than six hours a night, have an increased mortality risk compared to those who sleep for between somewhere between six and eight hours. Those who sleep too long are in most danger, with a 30 percent increase in the risk of death over medium sleepers, while those on the low end have a 12 percent increase. The discrepancy persists even when the scientists adjusted for factors that may make people sleep longer.
