After people noticed some drastic changes in Bristol Palin’s face, the 20-year-old admitted to an operation—but says it wasn’t plastic surgery. Palin says she underwent corrective jaw surgery in December. "Yes, it improved the way I look, but this surgery was necessary for medical reasons,” she tells Us Weekly. She says she needed to realign her teeth and jaw but is pleased, anyway, with the surgery’s other results. "I look older, more mature and don't have as much of a chubby little baby face."

"Wink ;)" That's how Amanda Bynes captioned a photo she took of herself and posted on her Twitter page, unveiling a drastic new makeover that rendered the 26-year-old virtually unrecognizable. Bynes, who starred on several Nickelodeon series as a child and feature films like Hairspray and She's the Man, offered no details about her new look, though many are speculating she had lip injections. Also new: the long blonde curls, the massive fake eyelashes, and pierced cheeks.

Baby-faced singing sensation Charice wowed audiences with her vocal talents when she appeared on American television for the first time on The Ellen DeGeneres Show in 2007. But the Filipino star caught the country's attention for another reason this week. Charice told reporters on Monday that she was getting Botox injections in preparation for her appearance on the Emmy-nominated series Glee in order to "to look fresh on camera," the Associated Press reported. "All people will be anticipating, ‘How will Charice look? Is she good enough to pit against Rachel Berry [the series' protagonist, played by actress Lea Michele]?' So of course there is tremendous pressure," the 18-year-old singer explained. Rumors began spreading that the round-faced performer underwent a 30-minute Thermage skin-tightening process and had Botox injections to narrow the shape of her face after her cosmetic dermatologist explained to the AP that her face was "getting wider" due to gum chewing. Soon thereafter, however, Charice's publicist stepped in, telling Us Weekly the procedure was an effort "to relieve a jaw problem similar to TMJ." Her rep went on to say, "She doesn't have a wrinkle… so she wouldn't need it for cosmetic purposes. The Glee people are thrilled with the way she looks which is why she got the part." Or maybe, it was because she can sing?

Naturally curvy reality-TV star Kim Kardashian has defended her lovely lady lumps on more than one occasion, vehemently denying rumors that she's gone under the knife. "I've never had my nose done [or my breasts]… If I take this bra off, you will tell me I need to get them done," she joked to Nightline in May. Nevertheless, the thought has crossed Kardashian's mind. "My nose is my biggest insecurity… I always want to get my nose done... I went to the doctor, I had them take the pictures, he showed me what it would look like and it just didn't [look right]. I wouldn't look the same." Still, the 29-year-old Kardashian went on to admit she has altered her appearance in other ways. "I'm totally not against plastic surgery… I've tried Botox before."

What didn't Heidi Montag get done? In 2009, the former star of The Hills and fame addict, who'd already had a nose job and breast implants, underwent a whopping 10 cosmetic surgeries in one day, all at the mere age of 23. The alterations, subtractions, and additions to her body—including a chin reduction, ear pinning and yet another round of breast implants—almost took the tabloid darling's life: "I almost died after my procedure," she told Access Hollywood. The surgeries, which Montag allegedly had videotaped and sometimes watches, have left her sadly unable to jog or hug people, according to The Huffington Post.

American Pie actress Tara Reid got her infamous breast implants—as well as liposuction—to fix "uneven" breasts and to attain six-pack abs in preparation for an upcoming movie role. In 2004, when she was 28, a strap of her dress fell at a red-carpet event, exposing her left breast and botched implant to the world. The actress later told the women of The View, "If I had to do it again, I never would have done it in the first place."

Disney's High School Musical star Ashlee Tisdale had a nose job at the age of 22, but was vocal about the fact that it was for medical, not cosmetic reasons. "I didn't do this because I believe in plastic surgery," she told People magazine. "I did this to help my health." Tisdale told the press and fans that her deviated septum and inability to breathe were the primary reasons for undergoing surgery. "The older I got, the worse it got," she explained. "I went to get it checked out, and the doctor told me the septum was 80 percent deviated and that I had two small fractures on my nose." The teen star dreaded the procedure, telling the magazine, "I was completely scared. I wasn't looking forward to the surgery at all. I actually had trouble sleeping for a week before."

Since her days as the adorable star (times two) in The Parent Trap, Lindsay Lohan has gone through many looks. In 2009, the actress' unusually swollen lips sparked rumors that she had gotten collagen injections to give her a "trout pout." Lohan then took to Twitter to address the gossip, explaining, "Tabloids are lies. Why are all of my friends asking me if I have a cut on my lip? Lol coz I don't [sic]. See! My lips are just as they've always been. It's nuts that I feel the need to give proof! What is this world coming to."

Like mother, like daughter: Alexa Ray Joel, daughter of supermodel Christie Brinkley and music icon Billy Joel, allegedly went under the knife one day apart from her mother this April. Ray Joel, 24, had rhinoplasty to fix her nose, while her mother, 56, reportedly got a facelift. Both debuted their new faces at New York City's 2010 TriBeCa Film Festival. Joel told Star, "I was thinking about getting this for years…[It] always bothered me a little bit. I was self-conscious of pictures taken from the side. To some people that's vain, but at the end of the day, we all want to feel pretty."

At the age of 21, notoriously lip-syncing singer Ashlee Simpson was initially coy when asked if she had a nose job. She eventually, however, came clean, telling Us Weekly, "I think as long as people have two eyes, then you probably know the answer." She added, "I was never really unhappy with how I looked, [and] I don't think I am more beautiful than I was [before]. I just see the same old goofy girl I see every day." Her father and manager later insisted that her health was part of why his daughter went under the knife. "There was a real problem with her breathing and that was cured," he told Fox News.

Ashlee isn't the only Simpson sister to resort to artificial means of beautification. In 2006, older sister Jessica—now the host of The Price of Beauty, a show that examines international conceptions of beauty on VH1—told Glamour magazine that she had gotten lip injections. "I had that Restylane stuff," she said. But Simpson was not such a fan of the experience. "It went away in like four months," she said. "[But] thank God! [They] looked fake to me. I didn't like that."

The tan isn't the only thing artificial on Jersey Shore star, JWoww (whose real name is Jenni Farley). The currently 23-year-old reality TV personality told The View, "I got [the implants] when I was younger." While rumors circulated that she had plans to go up a cup size (or more), she quickly denied the reports, telling People, "That's the only thing I would consider … Switching them." That's not, however, what she later told Harper's Bazaar, "I'd do it every year if I could." JWoww seemingly has yet to make up her mind on her breast augmentation surgery.

Beauty queen Carrie Prejean made a name for herself at the age of 22 by decrying gay marriage at the 2009 Miss USA pageant. It was later reported that prior to the Miss USA pageant, Prejean got breast implants that were paid for by the Miss California Pageant. "We assisted when Carrie came to us and voiced the interest in having the procedure done," said Keith Lewis, the co-director of the Miss California pageant. "We want to put her in the best possible confidence in order to present herself in the best possible light on a national stage." In an interview with Christianity Today, Prejean said, "I don't think there's anything wrong with getting breast implants as a Christian. I think it's a personal decision. I don't see anywhere in the Bible where it says you shouldn't get breast implants."
