Maynard James Keenan, frontman of rock bands Tool and A Perfect Circle, was accused of rape last Friday by a former fan who anonymously tweeted the allegations under the handle @IWas17HeWas36, reports Metro. Her series of tweets have since gone viral, especially on Reddit. In the tweets, the woman describes attending a Nine Inch Nails concert with her boyfriend in 2000, when she was 17. A Perfect Circle performed first, she writes, and the 36-year-old Keenan allegedly led her to his tour bus after spotting her in the crowd. There, she claims, he put on a movie and raped her. âThere was no consent made,â she wrote. âI was not high. I was clean. He did not seduce me, he forced me, quickly taking advantage of my paralyzed state.â She later claims that Keenan gave her HPV, and that she learned from a friend that he allegedly âdid this in every city, at every show.â Keenan has not yet responded to the allegations.
