At least four top U.S. law firms are reported to have turned down White House requests to represent President Trump in his ongoing Russia investigations. Yahoo News reports several lawyers cited concerns that Trump would not be receptive to advice and would otherwise undermine the case with tweets. Others may not have been able to take the job because of prior commitments or potential conflicts with other clients involved in the investigation. Those who have allegedly turned down the job include Brendan Sullivan of Williams & Connolly; former Solicitor General Ted Olson (now of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher); Mark Filip and former Solicitor General Paul Clement of Kirkland & Ellis; and Robert Giuffra of Sullivan & Cromwell. The president is personally represented by Marc E. Kasowitz, who has worked with the real-estate mogul in business issues for years.
