Travis Kelce was fined for “unsportsmanlike conduct” on Saturday, after taunting an opposing player during the Kansas City Chiefs’ AFC Championship game against the Buffalo Bills last weekend. The NFL’s website announced that the tight end had been fined $11,255 for the taunt, which took place during the game’s second quarter. The incident occurred after Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was tackled by Bills safety Damar Hamlin when crossing the goal line for a touchdown. Kelce proceeded to confront Hamlin and appeared to be telling him a few words before Bills defensive tackle Jordan Phillips joined in and made helmet-to-helmet contact with Kelce. Phillips’ move also resulted in a $6,722 fine for “unnecessary roughness,” per the NFL. The Chiefs ended up winning the game 32-29, securing their ticket to a third Super Bowl in a row. For this year’s Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans, the Chiefs will face off against the Philadelphia Eagles.
