The Trump administration is reportedly exploring options to fully shut down the U.S.-Mexico border in case President Trump follows through with his threats, Bloomberg reports. A White House official told the website that they are considering “closing select ports of entry, partly closing them, or shutting all entry points entirely[.]” The talks are reportedly “somewhere between” theoretical planning and examining ways to implement the policy. Trump threatened to completely shut down the border earlier this week if Mexico does not prevent migrants from entering the U.S. from their side. He also admitted that while a border shutdown would “negatively” impact trade between the two countries, security is more important to him.
