President Trump has voiced his support of giving drug dealers the death penalty, according to Axios. The president has outwardly admired Singapore’s policy to execute drug dealers “for months,” and reportedly said that “drug dealers are as bad as serial killers and should all get the death penalty.” While Trump is said to personally believe that more forgiving methods of drug reform “will never work,” he’s admitted that the likelihood of getting such a harsh policy approved by the American system is slim. Kellyanne Conway, who is the head of the White House’s anti-drug effort, told Axios that Trump’s proposal is more nuanced and would only apply to “high-volume dealers who are killing thousands of people.” Policy changes are reportedly on a horizon, including bringing more anti-drug education into schools.
