Trump Calls Black Journalist’s Question About His Embrace of Nationalism ‘Racist’

SAY WHAT?

Asked whether he is emboldening white nationalism by labeling himself a “nationalist.”

President Donald Trump on Wednesday accused a black reporter for PBS of asking him a “racist question” during a long, rambling press conference. White House correspondent Yamiche Alcindor asked Trump whether his embrace of “nationalism” has been emboldening for the white-nationalist movement. “That’s such a racist question,” Trump responded. Alcindor continued to question the president, adding, “There are some people that say that now the Republican party is seen as supporting white nationalists because of your rhetoric, what do you make of that?” Trump responded by insisting that he has the “highest poll numbers ever with African Americans.” Alcindor took to Twitter after the exchange writing, “I’m simply asking the questions the public wants to know.”
