President Donald Trump claimed in a joint press conference with U.K. Prime Minister Theresa May that his bombshell interview with British newspaper The Sun was “fake news.” Trump criticized May in the Sun interview, saying she did not heed his advice when she opted for a “soft” Brexit. “I actually told Theresa May how to do it but she didn’t agree, she didn’t listen to me,” he said, adding, “I would actually say that she probably went the opposite way. And that is fine.” After the piece was published, The Sun released the audio of the interview. In the press conference with May, Trump also said that immigration is “changing the culture” of Europe, calling it a “very negative thing.” He added that European countries like Germany “better watch themselves” because of immigration. May insisted that immigration had been good for the U.K.
