The Trump administration is recommending the U.S. Postal Service raise prices for package shipping, a move that would hurt online retailers like Amazon if implemented. Bloomberg reports that the commission President Trump appointed released its recommendations Tuesday. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin reportedly said the Postal Service “is on an unsustainable financial path which poses significant financial risk to American taxpayers. “Today’s report contains achievable recommendations that fulfill the President’s goal of placing the USPS on a path to sustainability, while protecting taxpayers from undue financial burdens and providing them with necessary mail services,” he added. Representatives for the Postal Service have reportedly denied losing money from handling Amazon’s packages. The USPS reportedly cannot “legally deliver packages for less than its delivery costs,” but that hasn’t stopped Trump from accusing Amazon of taking advantage of the USPS. He’s claimed the company is costing the USPS “massive amounts of money for being their Delivery Boy.”
