The Trump administration is recommending the U.S. Postal Service raise prices for package shipping, a move that would hurt online retailers like Amazon if implemented. Bloomberg reports that the commission President Trump appointed released its recommendations Tuesday. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin reportedly said the Postal Service âis on an unsustainable financial path which poses significant financial risk to American taxpayers. âTodayâs report contains achievable recommendations that fulfill the Presidentâs goal of placing the USPS on a path to sustainability, while protecting taxpayers from undue financial burdens and providing them with necessary mail services,â he added. Representatives for the Postal Service have reportedly denied losing money from handling Amazonâs packages. The USPS reportedly cannot âlegally deliver packages for less than its delivery costs,â but that hasnât stopped Trump from accusing Amazon of taking advantage of the USPS. Heâs claimed the company is costing the USPS âmassive amounts of money for being their Delivery Boy.â
I have stated my concerns with Amazon long before the Election. Unlike others, they pay little or no taxes to state & local governments, use our Postal System as their Delivery Boy (causing tremendous loss to the U.S.), and are putting many thousands of retailers out of business!
