President Trump reportedly called House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) late Tuesday to congratulate her on reclaiming a Democratic majority in the House. Trump is said to have acknowledged Pelosi’s calls for bipartisanship during the phone call, which was announced on Twitter by Pelosi’s deputy chief of staff, Drew Hammill. The phone call came shortly after White House press secretary Sarah Sanders told reporters Trump had no plans to congratulate Pelosi. “I’m not sure why you would call Nancy Pelosi considering a lot of members of her own party have said they wouldn’t support her,” Sanders was quoted as saying by Bloomberg. Sanders, who made the comments before Democrats fully took back control of the House, also said Election Night had turned out to be a “good night” for the president.
