President Trump lashed out at former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe on Thursday, tweeting that he was part of the “Russia hoax” and a “puppet” for former Director James Comey, hours after a new bombshell report from CBS News. “Disgraced FBI Acting Director Andrew McCabe pretends to be a ‘poor little Angel’ when in fact he was a big part of the Crooked Hillary Scandal & the Russia Hoax - a puppet for Leakin’ James Comey,” Trump wrote. “I.G. report on McCabe was devastating. Part of “insurance policy” in case I won.” In a subsequent tweet, he added that “Many of the top FBI brass were fired, forced to leave, or left. McCabe’s wife received BIG DOLLARS from Clinton people for her campaign - he gave Hillary a pass. McCabe is a disgrace to the FBI and a disgrace to our Country.” Trump’s comments followed CBS correspondent Scott Pelley’s report that McCabe had said in a 60 Minutes interview that he and some members of the Justice Department had considered attempting to impeach Trump via the 25th Amendment in the days after Comey was fired. Rumors have long swirled that those conversations occurred—but if Pelley’s report is true, McCabe is the first to confirm them on the record.
