President Donald Trump told reporters Monday that he has no plans to fire Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who is traveling with him on Air Force One to an event in Orlando, Florida. Trump claimed that he and Rosenstein have a “very good relationship,” according to a report from The Hill. “I look forward to being with him, that’ll be very nice,” Trump added. “We’re going to be talking. We’ll be talking on the plane.” This announcement quells rumors of Rosenstein’s departure, which were first sparked on September 21 when The New York Times alleged that Rosenstein suggested secretly taping Trump and discussed invoking the 25th Amendment to call for his removal. Rosenstein vehemently denied the charges, telling the Times that “Based on my personal dealings with the president, there is no basis to invoke the 25th Amendment.”
