President Donald Trump tweeted Monday that the appointment of special counsel Robert Mueller was not constitutional and again called the investigation into Russia’s 2016 election interference a witch hunt. “The appointment of the Special Councel is totally UNCONSTITUTIONAL!” he wrote. “Despite that, we play the game because I, unlike the Democrats, have done nothing wrong!” Trump earlier tweeted that he had the “absolute right to PARDON” himself according to “numerous legal scholars,” and the investigation was being led by “13 very Angry and Conflicted Democrats.” Over the weekend, White House lawyer Rudy Giuliani said the president “probably does” have the authority to pardon himself but has “no intention” of doing so, and called it a “hypothetical point.”
