In a series of tweets Sunday morning, President Trump called former FBI director James Comey a “slimeball” and claimed he “never asked Comey for Personal Loyalty,” in the run-up to Comey’s 20/20 interview airing Sunday night. Trump claimed Comey handled the FBI investigation into Hillary Clinton’s emails based “on the fact that he thought she was going to win, and he wanted a job.” The president also said Comey’s “badly reviewed book” does not address how “he gave up Classified Information,” why he “lie[d] to Congress,” and “why didn’t [the FBI] TAKE” the DNC server. Trump called Comey’s now-infamous memos outlining his dealings with Trump “phony,” “self serving and FAKE!” Trump also mentioned “McCabe’s $700,000” that he claims came from Hillary Clinton, as well as Bill Clinton’s tarmac meeting with former attorney general Loretta Lynch—whom Comey threw “under the bus!” Trump capped off his tweetstorm by saying “Slippery James Comey... always ends up badly and out of whack (he is not smart!)” and claimed he would “go down as the WORST FBI Director in history, by far!” Comey’s book, which addresses everything from the “loyalty dinner” to the “pee tape,” hits shelves on Tuesday.
