President Trump issued his first veto on Friday, overruling Congress in order to protect his national emergency declaration for border wall funding. The veto rejects a measure that would reverse that national emergency he declared on the southern border. The national emergency declaration unlocks billions of dollars in federal funds to build a wall on the southern border. It effectively bypassed Congress after lawmakers refused to meet Trump's multi-billion dollar request for border wall funds.
