About an hour after Attorney General William Barr summarized that Robert Mueller found no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia, Trump gloated to reporters and slammed the 22-month investigation as “illegal.” “So after a long look, after a long investigation, after so many people have been so badly hurt [...] it was just announced there was no collusion with Russia—the most ridiculous thing I’ve ever heard,” Trump said before boarding Air Force One in Florida. “There was no collusion, there was no obstruction, no whatsoever. It was a complete and total exoneration. It was a shame our country had to go through this. To be honest, it was a shame your president had to go through this. Before even I got elected, it began. It began illegally and hopefully someone will look at the other side. This was an illegal takedown that failed. And hopefully somebody’s going to be looking at the other side.”
