Donald Trump Jr. has agreed to a transcribed, closed-door interview with the Senate Judiciary Committee. The interview comes as Trump Jr., the president’s son, is facing scrutiny for his 2016 meeting with a Kremlin-connected Russian lawyer who allegedly promised him dirt on Hillary Clinton. The younger Trump was initially supposed to testify in front of the committee in public, but his lawyers cut a deal with the committee to avoid a public hearing. A spokesman for Sen. Chuck Grassley, the committee’s chairman, said senior committee staff will conduct the interview, and senators who sit on the committee will be able to sit in if they so choose.
