Michael Cohen, President Donald Trump’s personal attorney, is suing BuzzFeed News for defamation over its decision to publish a dossier containing allegations about Trump’s connections to Russia. Cohen is also suing Fusion GPS, the firm that commissioned the dossier, and its founder Glenn Simpson, for $100 million according to federal court records, though the complaint states an exact amount will be determined at trial. The dossier alleges that Cohen acted as an intermediary between the Russian government and the Trump campaign, which Cohen vehemently denies. Earlier Tuesday, Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) released the full transcript of Simpson’s interview with the Senate Judiciary Committee. BuzzFeed News, which endured strident criticism for publishing the dossier, said in a statement that it looks forward to “defending our First Amendment rights in court.”
