Trump: Migrants Who Throw Rocks Will Be Treated as Armed

HUH?

“When they throw rocks like they did at the Mexico military and police, I say consider it a rifle.”

President Trump told reporters Thursday afternoon that any members of the migrant caravan who throw rocks at authorities will be considered armed. “Anybody throwing stones, rocks, like they did to Mexico and the Mexican military, Mexican police, where they badly hurt police and soldiers of Mexico, we will consider that a firearm,” he insisted. “When they throw rocks like they did at the Mexico military and police, I say consider it a rifle.” Trump also said his administration is currently “finalizing a plan to end the rampant abuse of our asylum system,” in an apparent attempt to energize supporters ahead of the midterms. The migrant caravan is still about 1,000 miles from the border. Gen. Martin Dempsey, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, tweeted later Thursday called the large number of troops positioned along the border a “wasteful deployment” and said they wouldn't “use force disproportional to the threat they face.”
