President Trump on Wednesday named and shamed the Republican Senate and House candidates who lost their midterm races after refusing his support, noting that when it comes to their losses, “I’m not sure that I should be happy or sad but I feel just fine about it.” The president then called out, by name, candidates including Carlos Curbelo—who lost to Debbie Mucarsel-Powell in a shocking upset in Florida’s 26th district—Mike Coffman, and Mia Love. “Mia Love gave me no love and she lost,” Trump added. “Too bad. Sorry about that, Mia.”
He then turned to Barbara Comstock, who lost to Jennifer Wexton in Virginia’s 10th congressional district. “I think she could have won that race, but she didn’t want to have any embrace,” Trump said. “For that, I don’t blame her.” He added that he’s not sure whether these candidates were rejecting “me or what we stand for,” but added, “What we stand for meant a lot to most people and we’ve had tremendous support and tremendous support in the Republican Party, among the biggest support in the history of the party. “I’ve actually heard at 93 percent, it’s a record,” Trump said, “but I won’t say that because who knows?”
