President Trump has officially nominated attorney Christopher Wray to be the next FBI director, with the nomination now on its way to the Senate for approval. The Justice Department released a statement from Wray, a former assistant attorney general under President George W. Bush, late Monday. Saying that he was “honored and humbled” by the nomination, Wray stressed that he has been “inspired by the men and women of the FBI” throughout his career. “If confirmed, it will be a privilege and honor to once again work with them. America faces grave threats both here and abroad, and the FBI, in concert with its federal, state, and local partners, continues to work steadfastly to prevent and hold accountable those responsible for these threats,” Wray wrote. Trump announced Wray as his choice to lead the FBI on June 7, about a month after firing FBI Director James Comey.
