President Trump on Tuesday appeared to give an implicit endorsement to Republican Senate nominee Roy Moore—currently accused of sexual misconduct by nearly ten women, including attempted rape. Though the president has thus far remained mum on the boiling controversy, he told reporters outside the White House, “We don’t need a liberal Democrat in there,” referring to Moore’s opponent Doug Jones. He added: “I’ve looked at his record, it’s terrible on crime, it’s terrible on the border, it’s terrible on the military.” Furthermore, the president said, “He denies it. He totally denies it. That’s all I can say.” Asked if he believes Moore’s accusers, Trump said: “Forty years is a long time. He’s run eight races and this has never came up.”
