After declaring throughout the campaign that he would repeal and replace Obamacare, President-elect Donald Trump said in a new interview on Friday that he is willing to keep parts of President Obama’s signature legislative achievement. Trump told The Wall Street Journal that he wants to move swiftly on reforming the law, and said his discussion with Obama at the White House on Thursday led him to consider keeping key provisions of the law in place. Those provisions include preventing discrimination on the basis of pre-existing conditions, and allowing young adults to stay on their parents’ health insurance plans until they turn 26 years old. “I like those very much,” Trump said. Republicans cannot, by law, repeal those portions of the Affordable Care Act, though, because they do not have a filibuster-proof majority to do so.
