The Trump Organization on Friday announced that it has settled a lawsuit with celebrity chef José Andrés. The pair have been embroiled in a two-year legal battle over Andrés’s decision to back out of plans to open a restaurant in Trump’s newest hotel in Washington, D.C., which came after some of Trump’s deeply divisive immigration rhetoric. Andrés is an immigrant from Spain, and the Trump Organization sued him for $10 million for backing out of the lease to open the restaurant. The company on Friday released a statement with ThinkFoodGroup, the chef’s firm. “I am glad that we are able to put this matter behind us and move forward as friends,” Donald Trump Jr. said in the release. “Since opening in September 2016, Trump International Hotel, Washington, D.C. has been an incredible success and our entire team has great respect for the accomplishments of both José and TFG. Without question, this is a ‘win-win’ for both of our companies.” Andrés said in the statement, “I am pleased that we were able to resolve our differences and move forward cooperatively, as friends.”
