Via The Daily Beast's Facebook: New York real estate mogul Tevfik Arif has been detained in Turkey for allegedly setting up with prostitutes businessmen and Eastern European models aboard his $60 million yacht. What makes it especially scandalous is that his yacht is the Savarona, previously owned by Mustafa Ataturk, Turkey’s founder. Russian, Kyrgyz, and Kazakh businessmen and officials were also caught in the raid. Arif’s firm, Bayrock Group, has helped develop a slew of Donald Trump’s properties, including the Trump SoHo and Trump International Hotel and Tower in Fort Lauderdale. The company has legal troubles elsewhere as well. In New York and Delaware, a former Bayrock finance director claims the firm defrauded the IRS and embezzled millions. Arif’s lawyer says Arif is the victim of a "smear campaign" and will "vigorously defend himself in any court of law."
