Trump: ‘People Don’t Care’ About My Taxes

“As far as my taxes are concerned, the only one that cares is the press, I will tell you,” Donald Trump declared Tuesday morning during an appearace on Good Morning America. “And even the press, I tell you, it’s not a big deal.” Pressed by anchor David Muir on whether voters will be concerned about his lack of income-tax return releases, especially following the impending disclosures promised from VP nominee Mike Pence, Trump said, “I don’t think so. No, I think people don’t care.” The Republican presidential nominee has come under fire for refusing to release his tax returns ahead of the general election. Despite his claims that his taxes cannot be disclosed because they are under IRS audit, experts have repeatedly said that doing so would not compromise anything. Fellow Republicans such as Mitt Romney have gone as far as to suggest Trump refuses to release his information because he’s covering up a “bombshell.”
