In the wake of a Daily Beast report early Thursday, Donald Trump later in the day praised a Republican commentator who claims to use “science” to offer glowing psychological assessments of the president despite having no clinical training. “Gina is great!” Trump wrote on Twitter in response to a tweet promoting the book Mad Politics: Keeping Your Sanity in a World Gone Crazy, written by Gina Loudon. Loudon, who refers to herself as “Dr. Gina,” has said she used “science” and “true psychological theory” in her book to prove that “this president is the most sound-minded person to ever occupy the White House.” But several facts included in the book raised questions about Loudon’s credentials, as The Daily Beast reported. The author’s bio featured on the book jacket claims Loudon has a “Ph.D in psychology,” despite the fact that she actually holds a Ph.D. in “human and organization systems” from an online school. The publishing company Regnery took responsibility for the false claim in comments to The Daily Beast on Thursday, saying Loudon had not written the erroneous description. It wasn’t immediately clear if she’d signed off on the text, however.
