President Trump called Saudi Arabia’s explanation for Washington Post columnist Jamal Khashoggi’s death in Istanbul’s Saudi Arabian consulate the “worst cover up ever.” “They had a very bad original concept, it was carried out poorly and the cover up was the worst in the history of cover ups,” Trump told reporters Tuesday afternoon in the Oval Office, according to a pool report. Trump also said Khashoggi’s killing earlier this month was a terrible idea. “Whoever thought of that idea I think is in big trouble and they should be in big trouble,” he said. Trump spent much of the time with reporters explaining that Saudi Arabia is a huge investor in the U.S. and insisting that many American jobs hang in the balance. “I want to see the facts first... Saudi Arabia has been a really big ally,” he said. “If what happened happened, and if the facts check out, its something thats very bad.”
