Speaking by telephone to reporters and members of the U.S. military from his mansion in West Palm Beach, Florida, President Donald Trump said that this Thanksgiving, he was most thankful for his performance as president. Asked for what he was most thankful, Trump said, “For having a great family and for having made a tremendous difference in this country—I made a tremendous difference in the country. This country is so much stronger now than it was when I took office that you won’t believe it.” The president added that the country was now “so much stronger that people can’t even believe it” and that when he discusses the state of the nation with foreign leaders, “they say, ‘we cannot believe the difference in strength between the United States now and the United States two years ago.’ Made a lot of progress.” Included on the call were roughly 5,000 servicemembers spending their Thanksgiving stationed on the U.S.-Mexico border, ostensibly for the arrival of a migrant caravan.
