President Trump insisted Senate Democrats would have voted against founding father George Washington while defending Supreme Court Justice nominee Brett Kavanaugh during a rambling press conference Wednesday night. “If we brought George Washington here and we said, we have George Washington, the Democrats would vote against him,” Trump said. “Just so you understand. And he may have had a bad past, who knows, you know? He may have had some—I think accusations made. Didn’t he have a couple of things in his past?” Trump also called the sexual-misconduct allegations against Kavanaugh a “big, fat con job,” adding that Thursday’s public hearing would not “change any of the Democrats’ minds.” “They are obstructionists,” Trump said. Both Kavanaugh and accuser Christine Blasey Ford are expected to testify in front of the Senate Judiciary Committee Thursday.
