Donald Trump’s recent on-stage town hall, in which he ditched questions and instead opted to turn up his campaign playlist and sway for more than a half hour to the music, is just the latest sign that the former president is declining in front of our eyes, according to The New Abnormal co-hosts Danielle Moodie and Andy Levy.

“He’s not who he was in 2016. He’s not even who he was in 2020,” Levy said. “He’s always been a liar. He’s always been a, not particularly smart person who says incredibly dumb things—but this is, I think, qualitatively different.”

The latest sign of Trump’s slowdown was the decision to pull him out of two interviews this week, citing a conflict in his schedule.

“That means he should be someplace else, so where is he? In the doctor’s office?” Moodie added. “That’s exactly where the f— he needs to be, because something is clearly not right.”

Then, The Washington Post’s national columnist Philip Bump joins the program to discuss his approach to covering Trump—which Levy says is a “rare bright spot” in the genre.

“I feel like I’m doing it the way that it ought to be done,” Bump said.

Plus! A talk with Charlie Warzel, a staff writer at The Atlantic, about his most recent piece, titled “I’m Running Out of Ways to Explain How Bad This Is,” and the crisis of misinformation currently plaguing America.
