Donald Trump has ended his campaign’s high-dollar fundraising operation, effectively cutting off the flow of cash to the Republican Party. According to Trump’s national finance chairman Steven Mnuchin, Trump Victory, the joint fundraising committee between the GOP and the campaign, last held a fundraiser on October 19, the day of the final presidential debate. “We’ve kind of wound down,” Mnuchin told The Washington Post. “But the online fundraising continues to be strong.” The RNC only receives 20 percent of the money Trump raises online, while the party receives a “vast majority” of the money that would come through a joint fundraising committee. Mnuchin claimed that Trump no longer needs high-dollar fundraising efforts because his campaign is bolstered by internet donations.
