President Trump has announced that three American prisoners are on their way home from North Korea after a trip to the country by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo. Writing on his Twitter account Wednesday morning, Trump said: “I am pleased to inform you that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is in the air and on his way back from North Korea with the 3 wonderful gentlemen that everyone is looking so forward to meeting. They seem to be in good health.” He added that Pompeo had a “good meeting with Kim Jong Un” and that the date and place for his own meeting with the North Korean leader were set. A White House statement said the president “appreciates leader Kim Jong Un’s action to release these American citizens, and views this as a positive gesture of goodwill.” The three men—named as Kim Dong Chul, Kim Hak-song, and Kim Sang Duk—will arrive at Andrews Air Force Base, near Washington, D.C., at 2 a.m. Trump said he will be there in person to greet them.
