President Donald Trump announced on Saturday that he will visit Alabama next weekend to campaign for Sen. Luther Strange. “I will be in Huntsville, Alabama, on Saturday night to support Luther Strange for Senate. ‘Big Luther’ is a great guy who gets things done!” Trump tweeted. Strange, the incumbent who was appointed to the seat after Jeff Sessions became attorney general, is trailing former Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore in most polls by double digits. Moore on Saturday scored the endorsement of Rep. Mo Brooks (R-AL), who ran in the GOP primary but missed the runoff by coming in third place. Republican voters in the state will choose between Strange and Moore on September 26 in a runoff election.
