President Donald Trump announced Thursday that he would receive a letter from Kim Jong Un in a landmark meeting with North Korean delegates that will take place this Friday, according to The New York Times. The president did not expand on the possibility of reinitiating a summit between the two leaders, although he did note that talks between the U.S. and North Korea “are in good hands.” He was likely referencing the Wednesday meeting between Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and North Korean emissary Kim Yong Chol, in which the pair dined together for 90 minutes. “We are committed to the complete, verifiable, and irreversible denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula,” Pompeo tweeted Wednesday night.
