Donald Trump’s re-election campaign is denying reports that it has secretly hired disgraced former White House aide Rob Porter. “No,” said Michael Glassner, the Chief Operating Officer for Donald J. Trump for President Inc., when asked by The Daily Beast if reports of Porter getting a job were true. On Wednesday afternoon, the Daily Mail published a story stating that “fired White House aide Rob Porter was hired by Trump’s 2020 campaign manager just days after his ouster as a hush-hush favor to the president who felt ‘bad’ in spite of allegations that he beat his two ex-wives.” (The White House did not immediately respond to The Daily Beast’s request for comment on this.) The piece, citing a “D.C. insider” as its source, also stated that “it is believed Porter is being paid by [Trump’s 2020 campaign manager Brad] Parscale’s company with the intention of involving him in the campaign at some point in the future.” In the Mail story itself, an anonymous “senior Trump campaign official denied that Parscale had hired Porter and said the former White House aide is not working for the campaign.” — Asawin Suebsaeng and Sam Stein
