Tupac’s Mother, Afeni Shakur, Dies

Tupac Shakur’s mother, Afeni Shakur, has died at the age of 69. The Marin County Sheriff’s Office confirmed her death but did not provide more details about the cause. Shakur was the subject of one of Tupac’s best-known songs: “Dear Mama.” Shakur was part of the Black Panther movement when she moved to New York in the late 1960s. She gave birth to Tupac in 1971, and, after his death, she managed his legacy.
