Now that Mad Men is over, nostalgia fans can have Twinkies. Branded “The Sweetest Comeback in the History of Ever,” Twinkies and other Hostess snack cakes will return to shelves on July 15, just months after the company had ceased production and announced plans to close forever. Now owned by investment firms Metropoulos & Co. (which also owns Pabst Brewing Co.) and Apollo Global Management, Hostess Twinkies, insists Hostess president Rich Seban, will still be the same and will even still be priced at $3.99 for a box of 10. Hostess has struggled for years, and in November former CEO Greg Rayburn announced plans to liquidate after failing to reach an agreement with union workers. The investment firms stepped in after an outpouring of support for the sweet treats, but 15,000 union workers have lost their jobs in the process.
