Twitter Bans Far-Right Activist Laura Loomer

IT’S PERMANENT

Loomer says the move will make her a “martyr for the cause” and that “Trump is going to get wind of this.”

Twitter kicked Laura Loomer off its platform permanently Wednesday, making her the latest conservative media figure to be banned from the site. “This is not going to be the end of Laura Loomer,” the far-right activist told The Daily Beast. Loomer said she was banned over a tweet calling newly elected Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN), one of the first Muslim women elected to Congress, “anti Jewish.” “Isn’t it ironic how the twitter moment used to celebrate ‘women, LGBTQ, and minorities’ is a picture of Ilhan Omar?” she tweeted. “Ilhan is pro Sharia Ilhan is pro-FGM Under Sharia, homosexuals are oppressed & killed. Women are abused & forced to wear the hijab. Ilhan is anti Jewish.” Loomer regularly used her Twitter account to attack Muslims, and Uber and Lyft banned her from their services in 2017 after a series of anti-Muslim tweets aimed at Muslim drivers in 2017. Loomer, who had more than 250,000 followers on Twitter and is still on Facebook and Instagram, claimed the ban would make her a “martyr for the cause.” “I am sure Trump is going to get wind of this,” she said. Loomer shot to fame in pro-Trump circles last year after disrupting a New York performance of Julius Caesar that featured a Trump lookalike getting stabbed. Since then, she’s made a career of yelling at prominent Democrats, a stunt she calls “Loomering.”
