Two American tourists were injured in a stabbing attack at Amsterdam’s Central Station on Friday, the U.S. ambassador to the Netherlands announced on Saturday. Dutch police say the two U.S. citizens are currently in serious condition at a local hospital. They have yet to be identified. A 19-year-old Afghan man with a German residency permit has been taken into custody after allegedly stabbing the two American tourists. Dutch police are reportedly investigating the incident as a possible terror attack. The incident sparked panic at the crowded train station, with thousands of commuters evacuated from the terminal. The attack came just days after the Afghan Taliban called for violence against Dutch troops over a far-right politician’s plans to hold a Prophet Muhammad cartoon contest.
