The State Department evacuated “at least two more Americans” who have fallen ill after hearing “strange noises” in China, widening the scope of the mysterious, seemingly sound-based illness that has been plaguing diplomats in Cuba and China. The New York Times reports that the department has flown in a medical team, and they are testing “other employees at the American Consulate in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou,” with more officials expecting to be evacuated. The first reported case was out of Guangzhou a few weeks back, and the illness features symptoms akin to “concussion or minor traumatic brain injury,” experts have said. This comes after 24 American diplomats and their families suffered from the mysterious illness in Havana, and the families of Canadian diplomats were ordered to leave Cuba.
