Add this to the growing list of terrifying amusement park mishaps this summer. Two people were injured Saturday night at Ohio's Cedar Pointe theme park after a cable snapped on the Skyhawk and one of the swing ride's carriages disconnected. One was taken to a local hospital, and another was treated at the scene. The ride consists of two arms that wings guests at 60 mph. Instead of stopping the Skyhawk ride, operators reportedly shut it down and waited for gravity to stop the swinging. "It was awful. The cable was whipping around smacking the ride and destroying things on the ground,â said Tom Achtziger, who was on the ride with his two children when the cable snapped. âWe are all lucky that there were no more serious injuries."
