The United Arab Emirates has released photos of Sheikha Latifa, a daughter of Dubai’s ruler who mysteriously disappeared earlier this year after reportedly trying to flee. The government said in a statement carried by the state-run WAM news agency on Monday that Latifa is “at home and living with her family in Dubai.” Latifa, one of several daughters of Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai and the UAE’s prime minister and vice president, was shown sitting next to Mary Robinson, former U.N. High Commissioner for Human Rights, in one of the photos released by the UAE government. The government said Robinson met with Latifa on Dec. 15 at the family’s request. The photo shows Robinson smiling while Latifa sits next to her and awkwardly looks off to the side. The princess sparked worldwide concern in March, after she released a video alleging she’d been abused and imprisoned by her family and then abruptly disappeared following a failed escape attempt. Human rights groups spent several months demanding to know Latifa’s whereabouts amid fears she’d been forcibly disappeared.
