The University of California, Davis says it will investigate the alarming video footage shot Friday of a police officer using pepper spray on a group of seemingly passive Occupy demonstrators, all sitting on the ground with their arms interlocked. Most protesters have their heads bowed down, but the video shows at least one being hit square in the face, while a crowd gathered at the scene cries out, "Shame on you" as the protesters are then arrested. The videos were taken as police moved in on a campus tent encampment. UC Davis police chief Annette Spicuzza told the Associated Press that the protesters were repeatedly warned that officers would resort to using force if they did not move voluntarily. "They were cutting officers off from their support," she said, adding, "It's a very volatile situation."
