UFC star Conor McGregor has been sued by a woman, identified as a 49-year-old “Senior Wall Street Vice President at a high-profile financial institution,” for alleged sexual assault. In the Tuesday filing, the woman alleges that McGregor assaulted her in a bathroom at the Kaseya Center during an NBA Finals game between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets on June 9, 2023. The Kaseya Center and the Heat are also both named as co-defendants in the suit. A criminal investigation into the allegations was previously conducted in 2023 after an incident report was filed by the plaintiff to the Miami police department two days after the alleged assault occurred. The Florida State Attorney’s Office declined to go forward with the charges in October, 2023, however. “After a thorough investigation at the time, the State’s Attorney concluded that there was no case to pursue,” McGregor’s attorney, Barbara Llanes, said in a statement to the New York Times’ sports division The Athletic.“Almost two years and at least three lawyers later the plaintiff has a new false story. We are confident that this case too will be dismissed.” The Athletic adds that the Heat and Kaseya Center declined to comment on the lawsuit.
