Former British cleric Calvin Robinson has spoken out after he was defrocked for copying the controversial gesture made by Elon Musk, which some have compared to a Nazi salute. The gesture took place at the end of Robinson’s speech at a national pro-life summit in Washington D.C. on Friday. Robinson strongly denied being a “Nazi” on X and referred to his use of the gesture as “mockery of hysterical ‘liberals.’” Robinson, who says he is half Jamaican and has been described as a “conspiracy theorist,” said the controversy should not allow liberals to “distract from the real issue... enabling infanticide,” a reference to Robinson’s strong anti-abortion position. Robinson was stripped of his license to serve as a priest in the Anglican Catholic Church. A church spokesperson said in a statement, “While we cannot say what was in Mr. Robinson’s heart when he did this, his action appears to have been an attempt to curry favor with certain elements of the American political right by provoking its opposition.”
