Interns as young as 14 worked at a Foxconn plant in Yantai, China, the company confirmed on Tuesday. Foxconn, the world’s largest manufacturer of electronics, is one of the makers of the iPhone 5 and has faced serious questions over its labor practices—especially after a riot involving 2,000 workers broke out at the Taiyuan plant last month. Foxconn said a “small number” of interns between the ages of 14 and 16 were sent to the Yantai plant by their schools over the summer, and the employees have been terminated since their true age was discovered.
